World of Concrete Demos

Wednesday Sessions (COMPLIMENTARY)

Wednesday, Feb. 24 • 10:00am – 10:30am

C01 – Concrete Repair – Form & Pour Application – Planitop 15 Demo

Planitop 15 is a one-component, shrinkage-compensated, cementitious, fiber-reinforced, fluid concrete repair mortar. It contains a corrosion inhibitor and silica fume, and is well suited for Form & Pour and Form & Pump applications where high early strength and flowability are required. There will be a brief discussion on Form & Pour application methods and a demonstration using Planitop 15.

Speaker:
Dave Randall – CRS Specialist at MAPEI Inc.

Wednesday, Feb. 24 • 12:15pm – 12:45pm

C02 – Concrete Repair – Traffic Patch Repair Application – Planitop 18 & 18 ES Demos

Planitop 18 is a one-component, shrinkage-compensated, fast-setting, cementitious repair mortar with a corrosion inhibitor. Planitop 18 gains strength rapidly and is particularly suited for all interior/exterior horizontal concrete repairs, including bridge decks, parking-garage floors, and various horizontal DOT (Department of Transportation) concrete repairs from 1/2″ to 2″ (12 mm to 5 cm) thickness applied neat and up to 8″ (20 cm) extended. Planitop 18 features exceptional durability and very low chloride permeability rating. There will be a brief discussion on bridge deck repairs and a demonstration using Planitop 18 and 18 ES (Extended Set) products.

Wednesday, Feb. 24 • 1:45pm – 2:15pm

C03 – Introduction & Demonstration of Elephant Armor

Elephant Armor is a revolutionary new single component mortar designed to outperform all other competitive products. This ductile mortar eliminates deconstruction and reconstruction costs by encapsulating failed substrates, giving them a newly extended lifecycle. It provides superior performance whether repairing a curb, stamping a floor or overlaying a runway.

Jim Glessner is the President and CEO of GST International, Inc., an ultra premium line of sealers, cleaners and cement-based mortars. Jim has spent a lifetime in the concrete and masonry industries. As a 20-year member of (Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute (ICPI), Mr. Glessner helped pioneer the acceptance of sealers into the hardscape industry, and chaired the committee on developing ICPI Tech Spec 5 Cleaning, sealing and joint sand stabilization of interlocking concrete pavement. He is considered one of the country’s leading experts on the maintenance, restoration and beautification of all hardscape surfaces. He has been an author and contributing expert on a variety of articles in related trade publications and magazines. Jim holds a number of patents and continues to pursue the perfection of his products by using only the finest raw materials and formulations developed by his company. He is also the co-creator and formulator of Elephant Armor, the Worlds Most Amazing Cementitious Patch and Overlay Product. This revolutionary technology will change the way the industry approaches the restoration and maintenance of our failing infrastructure on a massive scale, saving millions of dollars by reducing reconstruction costs and significantly increasing lifecycles.

Thursday Sessions (COMPLIMENTARY)

Thursday, Feb. 25 • 10:00am – 10:30am

C04 – Moisture Mitigation – Self Leveling Application – Planiseal MB, Primer – Primer T, Liquid Skim Coat – Ultraplan LSC.

Moisture Barrier and Consolidating Epoxy Primer – Planiseal MB is a 100%-solids epoxy coating that is designed to effectively stop moisture-related problems with toppings, as well as act as a surface-consolidating epoxy primer. When the designated film thickness is applied, Planiseal MB will reduce moisture vapor emission rates (MVERs) of up to 25 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. (11,3 kg per 92,9 m2) per 24 hours to below the limit of 3 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. (1,36 kg per 92,9 m2).

When Planiseal MB is applied in a single-coat application system, its low-viscosity high-density resins penetrate deep into the substrate to effectively consolidate the substrate and reduce the MVER. Planiseal MB also may be used to consolidate friable substrates before application of toppings and other floor finishes, in addition to self-leveling underlayments. There will be a brief discussion on moisture mitigation situations and how to repair them. A demonstration will be done using Planiseal MB, Primer T, and Ultraplan LSC.

C06 – Lightweight Leveling Application – Ultraplan Lite

Leveling on suspended concrete slabs that have sagged over time can be a challenging situation when adding weight to the slab is a serious concern. Ultraplan Lite is a polymer-modified, calcium-aluminate-based, lightweight, self-drying, self-leveling underlayment. It has been specifically designed for leveling substrates that are not rated to carry the full weight of a traditional self-leveling underlayment or concrete basic topping material. Ultraplan Lite mixes easily and flows out to a suitable finish with a final dry density of about 67 lbs. per cu. ft. (1 073 kg per m3) at 28 days. There will be a brief discussion on lightweight topping applications and options available. A demonstration will be done using Ultraplan Lite.
